The winds of electric vehicles are blowing all over the world, and India is not an exception. Car buyers in the Land of Spices are switching from internal combustion engines in droves to take advantage of the many benefits of electric vehicles. To make electric cars more attractive, the Indian government has introduced a new subsidy that is up to Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
If you are in India and want to purchase an electric vehicle, our handy list here includes the best three models you can buy!
Hyundai Kona Electric
This vehicle, made by the South Korean company Hyundai, is available for purchase in India. It is the electric version of the well-received ICE Hyundai Kona.
The Kona Electric is an excellent family car, as it can seat five comfortably. The interior is well-appointed and has many modern features like a touchscreen center console which you can use to control the car. This hatchback has ample space in the trunk so that you can bring your cargo with ease.
The Kona Electric lasts 452 km on a single charge, and fast charging will restore it to 80 percent battery in about an hour.
Prices start at Rs 23.75 Lakhs.
Tata Nexon EV
Looking for a cheap electric car? Look no further than the Nexon EV made by Tata. It is no coincidence that it is among the highest-selling electric models in India.
Despite the lower price tag, the Nexon EV is adequate for daily use. The battery lasts 312 km on a full charge, which, while not winning any EV endurance award, is more than what the average driver covers in a day.
One of the Nexon EV strengths is its permanent magnet AC motor that offers superior performance.
Prices start at Rs 13.99 Lakhs.
Tata Tigor EV
The last EV on this list is again from Tata. The Tigor EV is a sedan designed specifically for the Indian market. It offers a shorter range than the Nexon, at 210 km. However, with a selling price of Rs 9.44 Lakhs, not many owners will complain.
The battery takes about 12 hours to charge, but a faster charger will take about two hours.
